So you are thinking about graduate school…

Why should you consider graduate studies?
-Perhaps you are a high achieving student but are worried that your undergraduate degree will not be enough to distinguish you from all the other students receiving a bachelor’s degree. Graduate school is an excellent way to set yourself apart from the masses. Maybe you just really like to learn and want to further that learning. Perhaps you want to get your doctorate degree, in which case graduate school is a necessary stepping-stone. Or maybe you just don’t want to have to face the real world and graduate school is a way of delaying the inevitable. Whatever the reason graduate school is definitely worth looking into.

-One of the first things you should do if you are considering graduate studies is find a professor to supervise you. In addition to using this web page you should approach professors you have taken classes with and ask if they would be willing to supervise you. Often your graduate study will have to be related to the research of your supervisor, so try to find a supervisor that you share research interests with.

-Before you decide that graduate studies is for you, you better make sure you can meet the admission requirements – C students may get degrees but they don’t get into grad school!
